Inspiring
The scholarly challenge students encounter in our classes sharpens their thinking, deepens their faith and prepares them to take on lay and ordained leadership positions in the Catholic Church. One of only two Jesuit theological centers in the U.S., the Jesuit School of Theology prepares men and women to become leaders in ministry, to find spiritual and theological renewal and to gain professional and personal growth.

leaders
The rapidly changing face of the Church requires leaders who are adept at working with different cultures. Here students from more than 40 countries draw on the wisdom of each other's experience as well as our heritage of scholarship.

for a faith
Steeped in the rigorous intellectual culture of the Catholic Church, we balance our academic rigor with theological reflection, spiritual direction, faith-sharing groups, retreat experiences and hands-on projects.

that does justice
Our commitment to social justice, characteristic of Jesuit tradition and spirituality, gives our programs an emphasis that connects students to the world around them.

in a culturally diverse
From our location on "Holy Hill," our students and faculty reach out to serve--and learn from--communities across the uniquely diverse San Francisco Bay Area.

and ecumenical context
Our students can study with people of other denominations through the nine schools of the Graduate Theological Union, where they can take classes with Jews, Muslims, Buddhists and mainstream Protestants. Cross-registration opportunities at University of California at Berkeley are also available.

Many of our faculty, as well as some of our graduate students, will be participating in the Lilly II Making Connections Speakers' Bureau, organized by Ted Arroyo, S.J.
