"There is something very beautiful about a place that teaches a theology in which there is neither Jew or Christian, African or American, Hispanic or Black, man or woman, lay or cleric, teacher or student. Such is this wonderful place I am privileged to call my professional home."

Dr. García-Rivera teaches both fundamental and advanced courses in theology. He offers a series of very popular courses, Suffering and the Human Person, Theological Aesthetics and God in the Postmodern World, among others. In the near future, he will be offering a foundations course entitled Theology, Aesthetics and the Arts for students interested in theology and the arts.

Dr. García-Rivera is known for his innovative approach to the material of his courses and for his Socratic style of teaching. He is also known for his pastoral style in relating to students. He is sought out for his ability to guide his students through the master's and doctoral degree programs.

Dr. García-Rivera has won several awards for his writings, which include spiritual essays in publications such as U. S. Catholic and Momento Catolico and scholarly works such as St. Martin de Porres: The Little Stories, The Semiotics of Culture and The Community of the Beautiul: A Theological Aesthetics. He is now working on another book: A Wounded Innocence: Sketches for a Theology of Art.
